What Your Style Says About You

July 27, 2021

Everyone has a style. What does yours say about you?

Ever since I was a little girl I was drawn to fashion. I loved that each piece and accessory I would try on would make me feel a certain way. Each style I dabbled with, told a different story about me. Eventually, I found my look. I found a style that screamed, Fashionably Izzy. Now, don't get me wrong. I am a stern believer that our styles are ever changing. As we grow and learn more about ourselves, our taste in fashion changes but this is a slow and patient change.

What Is Style?

Style is the way you present yourself. From your choice of clothing, the way you cut your hair, the makeup you wear, even small things like your everyday mannerisms. Most people get fashion and style confused but, they are two different things. As the great Yves Saint Laurent famously said “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” Fashion is hard to keep up with. It changes seasonally and truthfully nowadays, it changes weekly! Style on the other hand, takes much longer to change. Style is affected by things such as: culture, politics, heritage, weather, and even your mood. Style has no season. What is in style today, could be in style for decades!

How Many Different Styles Are There?

I don't believe there is a definite number of styles. Everyone sees themselves differently therefore, they can create fun and unique styles tailored specifically to them. There are certainly trendy styles that you might be noticing today so, I thought I might share with you my 3 favorite styles and explain why I love them!

The Chic Fashionista

This style purposefully keeps up with the fashion trends. By taking a chic look and styling it with a high fashion staple piece. There are a few high fashion brands that managed to take an iconic look and keep it alive even today. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, these are just a few brands that time has not affected. By styling your look around a staple like this, you can create a super chic style that is timeless!

The Sustainable Minimalist

Ethical and Eco-Friendly Fashion is becoming more and more popular. Taking minimal hues and patterns and mixing them with similar shades and colors is in. Not only do I love the style for the look but, nothing feels better then buying from a brand that cares. I personally am excited that folks are starting to really care about where their clothes comes from.

The Mix N Match Artist

Patterns are in! Especially when you mix and match them. Which is one of my favorite things to do! It adds so much contrast and depth to the look. This style just screams "I am creative and I don't care what people think!" By taking bold colors and patterns and accenting them with more colors, you get a unique and creative style that is hard to replicate. The Mix N Match artist usually has a handful of staple pieces with some unique statement pieces mixed in.

What Style Do You Enjoy The Most?

Have you ever taken a step back to see what your personal style looks like? Take a look at your closet. Tell me what do you see. Colors? Patterns? Stripes? Crocks? After taking a look at my closet, I notice lots of color. I love to mix and match primary colors and I have a deep love for accessories. I have several flowy tops because I like for my clothes to breathe. I express myself the most through the jewelry I wear. I like to tell a story through my outfits and I definitely wear what matches my mood for that day. That is my style. I love that everyone I meet has their own personal, unique style. It helps others understand who you are on a deeper level. Even if you've never stopped to think about it, clothes always tell a tale.

If you're not sure what you're style is or you're having a hard time coming up with it. Go to Pinterest for inspiration, make a fashion mood board or try phoning a friend. Sometimes, surprisingly, friends know more about our style than we do!

Until next time, beauty!
